Parish Map Preservation Project

Digital images of historical Parish, Town, County and Municipal maps are available at this site. Images of Pastoral Maps, showing Pastoral Runs from the mid 1800's, can also be viewed. Current Parish Maps will be added as the project develops. The Parish Map Preservation Project is a cooperative effort involving the Department of Information Technology & Management, Department of Land & Water Conservation and

the State Records Authority.

 

 

Picture Australia

The State Library of NSW contributes pictures and records from PICMAN to Picture Australia. This is a web service, which provides a single point of access to digitized images from many of Australia's leading cultural institutions.

 

 

Place Names of Australia Gazetteer

Searches a database of over 274,000 geographic names provided to the Committee for Geographical Place Names in Australia by each State and Commonwealth authority. Many extra, unofficial  homestead names are also added by Geoscience Australia.

 

 

Register of the National Estate - Place Finder

Provides a database that contains 11,500 places and includes historic places, natural areas, and places of importance to indigenous people. Each place on the Register includes the statement of significance, a description, a report on the condition of the place, and a photograph if available.

 

 

Spatial Information Exchange 

The SIX Gateway provides a single entry point through which to search, access and utilise the wealth of geospatial services and data managed by Lands, in many cases free of charge. It also provides  opportunities for users to contribute to this state-wide resource. The SIX Gateway contains a

wide range of property and topographic features as well as cadastral (land tenure) and address information that can be searched against.
